Women With Hashimoto's: Understand Why You Still Feel This Way When Your Thyroid Labs Look “Normal”
Without another elimination diet, even if you've already seen four providers and tried everything they gave you, and without anyone telling you what's wrong with your body before they've ever examined it.
Every appointment is about your thyroid. TSH, medication, recheck in twelve weeks, repeat. So the whole thing starts to feel like a simple equation, and when the equation is solved and you still feel awful, there's nowhere left to go.
The shift
Hashimoto's is an autoimmune condition involving the thyroid. Your immune system is involved, which means questions about your immune system are legitimate questions, and they're questions a thyroid panel was never designed to answer. Your immune system isn't your enemy. Its job is protection. With Hashimoto's that protection got misdirected toward your own thyroid tissue.

Key #2
Burden Versus Capacity
The problem
Everything you've been told to do is about one side of the ledger. Add the nutrient. Add the supplement. Add the protocol. And if the load your body is carrying is high enough, you can pour capacity in all day without feeling the difference.
The shift
Before we ask what your body needs more of, we ask what it may need less of. Take an inventory of the load. Make sure the body can eliminate what it's already supposed to eliminate before mobilizing anything. And investigate before assuming, because different people have genuinely different contributors.
The proof
A patient with Lyme disease who arrived completely debilitated. Significant improvement inside the first 30 days. By day 90, symptoms resolved. Her capacity didn't go up because we added more to her. It went up because something came off.

Key #3
OPEN → REMOVE → REBUILD → OPTIMIZE
The problem
“I've tried everything and nothing works for me.” Most women with Hashimoto's are doing step three of a four-step process within a week of diagnosis. Supplements and gut protocols going into a body that never had the foundations put in underneath it.
The shift
It isn't a list, it's an order. Open the foundations and elimination pathways. Remove meaningful burdens when they're actually present. Rebuild what your body needs, which makes supplementation strategic rather than random. Then optimize past “not feeling bad.”
The proof
Martha came in with neck and back pain, global weakness, extreme fatigue, digestive symptoms, and oxygen therapy. Her inflammation marker was 38.4, where under 0.9 is the goal. Worked in sequence over six months, it came down to 1.1 in 60 days. By the end, the pain resolved, the digestive symptoms resolved, and she was off oxygen entirely.
I'm a Doctor of Chiropractic and a functional medicine practitioner, and this is my thirteenth year of clinical practice.
On paper my background is anatomy, physiology, neurology, patient assessment, and clinical decision-making, and over the years I've moved further into advanced lab interpretation, gut health, hormones, metabolic dysfunction, environmental exposures, nutrition, and mitochondrial health. What actually took me there was simpler than any of that. I kept seeing patients who got the obvious problem treated correctly and still didn't get better, and I couldn't let go of the question of why.
But that isn't the real reason I do this work.
For over two years I was sick. Daily nausea and daily vomiting, every day, for more than two years. I saw multiple doctors and tried different treatments, and I want to be clear that they weren't bad doctors. They did what they were trained to do, which was manage the symptom I brought them. It just turned out that managing it wasn't the same thing as fixing it, so I managed it for years and I stayed sick.
Then I found a doctor who sat down and listened to my entire story, ran comprehensive testing, and asked a different question. He asked why is this happening. We stopped trying to suppress the nausea and we went looking for what was driving it. We found things. We addressed them. The symptoms that had run my life for two years resolved.
That's why I practice the way I practice. Somebody did it for me when I'd run out of ideas.
What I believe
Stop chasing what's low and start asking why it's low. And investigate before assuming, because I'm not going to tell you what's wrong with your body until I've actually looked at you.
Live Attendance Bonus
The Patient Progress Form
The actual form my patients complete before every strategy visit. It tracks symptoms, improvements, what's getting harder, how you're doing with the plan, your questions, and what the priorities are for the next phase.
Most people have no organized way to know whether they're actually improving. They go on a feeling, and a feeling is a poor instrument over six months. Fill this out weekly starting tomorrow and in eight weeks you'll know things about your own patterns that nobody has been able to tell you.
